Scarecrow Contest on Main St
đ Every October, Medfordâs Main Street transforms into a whimsical outdoor gallery for the Womanâs Clubâs Scarecrows on Main! Families, schools, scouts & businesses craft creative displays that line the streetâall to support local causes & bring our town together for fall fun.

Every October, Medford springs to life with creativity, community spirit, and a dash of autumn fun thanks to the Womanâs Club of Medford and their beloved Scarecrows on Main contest. All pics are from previous contests, can't wait to see what this years creativity brings!

đ What It Is
This family-friendly event invites individuals, families, schools, scout troops, nonprofits, and local businesses to build imaginative scarecrow displays and mount them on the lamp posts along Main Street. Scarecrows must face the shops (not the street!) and stay in place through October, until the Halloween parade.
đïž When & Where
- The setup begins on the first Saturday of October, with registration starting in the morning. That's next Saturday October 4th!
- All entries must be in place by late morning that day for judging.
- Displays remain until the Halloween Parade, and entrants are responsible for removing them prior to the parade!
đ Categories & Purpose
Scarecrows can be whimsical, sweet, or funâbut not frightening or inappropriate. There are multiple categories: family, individual, school group, scouts, nonprofits, commercial, and more. A minimal entry fee helps fund the Womanâs Clubâs Feeding Families â Grocery Gift Cards Program, supporting local families in need.
Sign Up here (a link to the form on fb) - print the form, attach your donation to it & be ready on Oct 4 to get your space assignment and start moving! Reach out to the Woman's Club if you're a business that would like the lamp post or pole outside of your business! The ladies of the Woman's Club will be at the Gazebo ready to assist you!

Every October, Main Street transforms into a whimsical outdoor gallery thanks to the Womanâs Club of Medfordâs annual Scarecrows on Main contest. Families, schools, scout troops, businesses, and community groups all get creative, crafting everything from classic straw-stuffed characters to pop culture icons. In recent years weâve spotted Barbie, Glamorous Swiftie, and even âBruce Crowsteenâ keeping watch over downtown.

Itâs one of those traditions my family loves. We grab a coffeeâor a local brewâand stroll Main Street together, pointing out our favorites and laughing at the most imaginative displays. The whole town comes alive, with kids posing for photos, neighbors catching up, and shop windows decorated to match the festive vibe. Best of all, proceeds from the contest support local causes through the Womanâs Club, making it a feel-good way to celebrate fall in Medford.
