Yard Sale Weekend in Medford: Hoot Owl, Taunton Trace & Deer Brook - where else!?

Looking for an excuse to wander around Medford and maybe come home with something you absolutely did not plan to buy?

This Saturday might be your day!

Several Medford neighborhoods are hosting community yard sales, making Saturday, May 30 feel a bit like an unofficial town-wide treasure hunt.

*This is as of Thursday night - More are joining every moment!)

The largest of the bunch appears to be the Hoot Owl Community Yard Sale, happening from 8am–1pm, with organizers reporting 28+ participating homes so far, along with 2 refreshment zones and 1 activity stop. They’re still hoping to hit 30 homes, so there may even be a few more joining in before the weekend. (more people are signing up all the time, if you're living in Hoot Owl and want to participate - here's the link!)

And if you’ve never wandered through Hoot Owl, this is kind of the perfect excuse. We know all the state named streets can be confusing so the lovely couple organizing it, Jeff & Regina Buteau have put together this handy google map link for you! It’s one of those neighborhoods where even longtime Medford residents sometimes realize, “Wait… I didn’t know this street was back here.”

We’ve also heard that Hoot Owl's neighborhood next door, Taunton Trace and Deer Brook are hosting neighborhood yard sales this Saturday as well, meaning there should be plenty of opportunities to browse.

Yard sales are always a little unpredictable in the best way. One driveway has baby gear, the next has vintage glassware, someone’s finally letting go of holiday decorations from 1997, and somehow you leave with a lamp you never intended to buy. Me? I am always on the hunt for string instruments - as a cellist, I never actually find cellos but I do often find violins & violas. I have quite a collection mostly because I love them. I'm always hunting for vintage Pyrex too, and of course, ceramic christmas trees - the vintage ones. I've got quite a collection of them and I love them! (hint hint, reach out if you have that stuff lol!!!!)

If you go, bring cash, wear comfortable shoes, and leave a little room in the trunk… just in case.

Happy treasure hunting, Medford.

Yes - this post leans heavy on Hoot Owl...why? Because I live there haha!

And hey - while you're here I noticed that the neighborhood next door, Taunton Trace, is also having their community yard sale this day - so you can really go treasure hunting!

Neighborhood yard sales are one of those small-town things that feel very Medford. You bump into neighbors, discover streets you’ve never driven down, and somehow leave with a plant, a lamp, and three things you definitely didn’t plan on buying.

Happy treasure hunting!

Have Something Happening in Medford? Let Destination Medford Know.

While we’re at it, here’s something new we’re excited about.

One of the questions we get constantly is:
“Can you post my event?”

The answer is: hopefully, yes.

We’ve created a simple submission form where local businesses, nonprofits, churches, neighborhoods, and residents can share upcoming happenings in Medford for consideration on Destination Medford.

Hosting a yard sale? Running a fundraiser? Big sale in your business? Planning a class, trivia night, blood drive, festival, business special, or community event? Send it our way! Just note - we do NOT share AI generated images/flyers etc (ask me why if you really want to start a long convo) and the event *must* take place in Medford or Medford Lakes!

Our goal is to begin putting together more regular “Week Ahead in Medford” style posts and newsletters so locals have one easy place to see what’s happening around town.

As always, there’s no guarantee every submission will be shared, but we’ll do our best to help spread the word about the good things happening in our community.

You can submit events here!
